Frequently Asked Questions

Does my pool need serviced every week?

Weekly pool service is essential to maintain a healthy, sparkling pool. Extreme weather, excessive landscape debris, bird droppings and/or heavy bather load are all factors in the effect on pool water chemistry and must be balanced before the water becomes unhealthy or possibly even dangerous to swim in.

How soon can I use my pool after it’s been chemically treated?

Generally it is safe to use your pool after chemicals have dispersed, usually 15 minutes to one hour. If shocking your pool, wait until the chlorine level drops to a recommended level.

Does my salt water pool contain chlorine?

Yes. Your salt water pool generates chlorine through an electronic salt system. A salt water pool needs to maintain a chlorine level just like a non-salt water pool.

How often should my cartridge filters be cleaned?

All manufacturers recommend cleaning the filter quarterly or 10 psi above normal operating pressure.

Will a variable speed pump save me money?

Yes. A variable speed pump uses less electricity on startup and during its run cycle resulting in significant savings on your electric bill.

Why should I drain my pool?

After years of chemical and mineral accumulation, pool water becomes stale and cloudy and needs to be drained and filled with fresh water that can stabilize properly.

How long should my pool pump run for?

For an average-size play pool, typically 6-8 hours in the summer or 4-6 hours in the winter months are sufficient run times for most pool equipment.

Is it necessary for my pool pump to run every day?

Yes. Your pump should turn over the water through your filter in your pool at least once a day in order to filter on a healthy level.
